Your starting MMR is derived from your current Solo Queue rank so teams are balanced from game one. After enough games your actual performance takes over and rank no longer matters.
How It's Calculated
Base Tier base MMR (e.g. Gold = 2000, Diamond = 2880)
Division IV = +0   III = +40   II = +80   I = +120
LP bonus Up to +40 at 100 LP  (linear: 50 LP → +20)

ARAM performance is much less correlated with Solo Queue rank, so the rank influence here is roughly 4× weaker than in 5v5. Gold is the neutral anchor (1200 MMR) — high-elo players start slightly above, low-elo slightly below. After a handful of ARAM games your actual performance quickly takes over.

Division IV = +0   III = +10   II = +20   I = +30
LP bonus Up to +10 at 100 LP  (linear: 50 LP → +5)
